We also carry Kromski spinning and weaving equipment, Schacht spinning and weaving equipment as well as a good range of fiber for spinning and a small selection of cone yarns for weaving.

5. How long have you been in business, and what inspired you to open a LYS?
We have been open since November of 2009. We opened the store because of our love of yarn, fiber and craft and it seemed like the right time to embark on our next great adventure!

6. What's your favorite thing about having a LYS?
Meeting wonderful people who enjoy fiber as much as we do, working with yarn ALL DAY LONG and having flexibility in my schedule. Must attend school shows and events!

My studio is a working studio, so if you come to my little shop, you might encounter a photoshoot, or a table covered with newly-made bag kits for an upcoming fiber festival, or a bag laid out with a design idea, or an in-process design draped on a mannequin. You just never know! Come visit.

5.  How long have you been in business, and what inspired you to open your business?

Noni’s 9th anniversary will be on August 19th of this year!

6.  What's your favorite thing about running Noni?
I like the way owning a design company pushes me to be creative, providing challenges to come up with new designs and then solve the problems that new designs almost always present—it is this problem-solving process that often results in new, unexpected, and better designs.

I also love to teach, so the workshops I teach both in shops around the country and in my studio are always a great pleasure: students’ questions and thought processes stimulate my own creative process.

Blended Threads Workshops and Designs create opportunities to express the creative side and rejuvenate the soul. Not a typical brick and mortar store, we offer you the chance to learn a new skill or more fully develop one you already enjoy in an environment away “from it all.” Peaceful settings help you relax and soothe away some of the tangles of the modern world.

Retreats, multi-day workshops from presenters and instructors in many fiber arts disciplines as well as wellness workshops for hand crafters are the specialty of Blended Threads. Be it knitting, crochet, spinning, weaving or dyeing, there’s an event for you.

Explore 4™ on the Eastern Shore with Deborah Robson started the ball rolling in 2013. Deb will be back in October 2014 for another great week. Also in early planning stages are retreats with Donna Druchunas, Sivia Harding, and Cheryl Potter. Plans for Spring and Summer 2014 Spinning Day Out Events at local farms are coming too.

Blended Threads Designs are knitting and crochet patterns that reflect our passion for the unique beauty of natural fibers. We don’t do a lot of intricate stitch manipulations that distract the artist from the relaxation and rejuvenation of the craft, rather easy to learn and repeat patterns to soothe the spirit.

4. What kinds of things do you carry?
We carry a variety of products including yarns from a variety of companies like Berroco, Cascade, Knitting Fever, Malabrigo, Skacel, and many others. You can also find our own line called Tempting Ewe Yarns which is sold exclusively at Cloverhill Yarn Shop.  We also sell fiber and roving for spinning and felting to include products from Ashland Bay to Hobbledehoy batts and rovings. We are also Schacht, Ashford, and Spinolution Dealers and we can order in any of their products from spinning wheels to looms.

5. How long have you been in business, and what inspired you to open your business?
Amanda Ko and Wae Wang bought Cloverhill Yarn Shop and we opened our doors to a newer and brighter space on July 2nd, 2013. We have been working hard to restore Cloverhill to its former glory. Many customers had drifted away over the years and we wanted to build on the history of our shop to create a space where the fiber loving community can gather free of judgement or prejudice to celebrate our love for our crafts. We have the most loving and supportive community of men and women and it really shows and we invite everyone to come on by because Cloverhill is back!

6. What's your favorite thing about having a LYS?
Our favorite part about having a LYS would have to be the people we get to meet everyday. We really do enjoy meeting new customers and getting to know them individually and welcoming them into our community. They know we're their safe place and if they need help we're there. We also like the yarn and the fiber, a lot.

Savage Mill is a super cute old complex that was once a fiber mill. It's got spinning areas, carding areas, weaving areas, and a cotton shed. You can read more about the history and renovation here. It's the perfect venue to hold us and our fiber fanatics!

Savage is just north of Laurel - directions are provided on their website here. It's pretty convenient from I-95, right off Rt 32. For your GPS, the address is 8600 Foundry Street, Savage, MD 20763.



Once you're at the mill, we'll be in the Great Room. There are maps around once you're in the door, so it shouldn't be hard to find us! Parking is easiest in the west lot - it gets pretty crowded in the closer lots! We encourage people to arrive throughout the day - our vendors will have great stuff all day and we'll be announcing new door prizes every 30 minutes.

Also, take some time to check out all the great antiques and furniture! There's a used book store, craft and scrapbooking stores, a bead shop, a game shop, and more to see! If you get hungry, there are several options at the Mill and nearby! Save room for a delicious french pastry at Bonapartes! If the weather is nice, go for (or send your family on) a walk on the Savage Mill Trail!

4. What kinds of things do you carry?
We carrry Addi, HiyaHiya, Karbonz and Plymouth needles.  We carry Malabrigo, Sweet Georgia, Neighborhood Fibers, Berroco, Noro and other commercial yarn, but we’re most proud of our own “Boutique” yarn line.

The Boutique yarn line is yarn sourced, spun and dyed for us by a farm in Pennsylvania – Sweitzer Mill Farm.  In 2013, we started with five different yarn blends all named after Maryland rivers.

Patapsco is our new Falkland yarn, made entirely of fleece from the Falkland Islands. Located off the southern tip of Argentina, this region is known for its cultivation of exceptionally fine wool.

Susquehanna is our Organic Polwarth Silk blend of certified organic Polwarth, named for the county in Australia. We’re combining our Organic Polwarth with Silk, to create a perfect blend. Organic means that the fibers have undergone minimal chemical processing resulting in a finer, softer, naturally white yarn that takes dye with vivid boldness.

Monocacy is our 100% Merino yarn. With a natural twist and spin, Monocacy is incredibly soft, and durable.

Severn is our Blue Faced Leicester (BFL) and Silk blend. BFL sheep has luxuriously long, silken, Shirley Temple-esque locks to go with its blue Roman nose and is known for its threadlike, incredibly light wool. We’ve created a blend of BFL with silk highlights, while adding drape and lightness, making this yarn perfect for multi-season.

Sassafrass is our Merino and Bamboo blend. Our Sassafrass combines the durability of Merino fiber with the softness of bamboo. Bamboo fiber adds luster and drape to a yarn, similarly to silk, but with the added benefits of being naturally antibiotic while pulling heat and moisture away from the skin. Blending bamboo with Merino wool creates a slinky, shiny yarn that has beautiful stitch definition, lovely drape, and is perfect warmer climates.

We’re proud that Clara Parkes’ Knitter’s Review called our yarn “a solid line-up.”

5. How long have you been in business, and what inspired you to open your business?  
The store opened in 2011. We wanted to open "A New Kind of Yarn Store" which really speaks to our overall customer approach to new, unique items like our Boutique yarn or how we utilize technology including cameras and monitors in the classroom for instructor's teaching.

2014: Wolle's Yarn Creation

I have color changing cotton yarns. The yarns are 100% cotton and are beautifully next-to-skin soft; they have a wonderful drape which makes them perfect for knitted, crocheted, and woven scarves, shawls, and tops. The yarns are wound so that they change colors gradually - magically - on their own.
