2017: AlpacaJoy of Maryland (new vendor!!)

AlpacaJoy of Maryland 3

I have been raising huacaya alpacas for 10 years. I process their soft fleece into batts, roving, yarn, dryer balls, felted soaps, ornaments and rich, bright rolags. I make glass beads to embellish custom made orifice hooks for spinners, shawl pins and stitch markers. I make all natural lotion bars to help spinners in the winter. My favorite pastime is creating new colorways when dyeing fine fibers and fine yarn (mostly alpaca, merino, BFL and silk). All of my colorways are one or two of a kind, so make for very unique and one of a kind knitted, crocheted or woven projects.

I work in mixed metal jewelry. Copper, bronze, sterling, fine silver and brass are used. My focus will be shawl pins and will display other jewelry items. Customers describe my work with words and phrases such as unique, rustic with finesse, primitive, tribal and celtic.

Become a Sponsor

Would you like to get your local yarn store or other crafty business in front of the more than 700 avid crafters who attend the Homespun Yarn Party? Read on!

We are entirely volunteer-coordinated and proud to support independent artists and local yarn shops.

To help pay for postcards to spread the word and for our party space, we are offering two sponsorship levels:
  • For $40, your name and location/website will be listed in our program, and linked on our blog for a year. We will also make a separate blog post featuring your business (we will send you a questionnaire and you may include your logo or a photo of your products in the blog post).
  • For $100, in addition to the link and profile post, you will be able to submit up to four blog posts throughout the year, announcing sales, special offers, or events.

All sponsors will be announced and thanked during the event, and listed on our sponsor board, which will be prominently displayed at the entrance. Plus, HYP sponsors and vendors are able and encouraged to post in our Facebook and Ravelry groups.

We are also happy to receive donations of supplies for our on-site learn to knit, crochet, or spin classes, or tokens of appreciation for our volunteers. These material donations will be acknowledged to class participants and listed in the event program. In addition, if you would like to donate a door prize for the event, please let us know what you have to offer!

Email yarnparty@gmail.com for more information. Payment must be received no later than March 8.

Sponsor Post: Wooly Wonka Weekend April 15/16 at Knit Locally

Come to Knit Locally April 15th and 16th for a wild and woolly weekend as we welcome Anne Podlesak, the creative genius of Wooly Wonka Fibers. Anne has just published her first book: FREE SPIRIT KNITS, filled with beautiful and wearable designs. The book's garments will be on display.

On Friday, April 15th, from 4 -7 pm, we host Anne for a wine and cheese reception/book signing. There is no charge for this event.

On Saturday, April 16th, from 10 am to 12:30 pm, Anne leads a COLOR THEORY class, working with samples of her hand-dyed yarns. Overcome your fear of color and learn how to select colors that pop! Class limited to 8 participants - we may add a second class from 2 - 4:30 pm. Take the class and enjoy 20% off all Wooly Wonka yarns that day. This class would be equally valuable for any crafter, beader or quilter. So grab a friend and register by emailing peggy@knitlocally.com. Class is $55, prepayment is required, and will be held on the 2nd floor of Knit Locally.
