2013: Crabapple Yarns

Crabapple yarns

My journey into fiber arts began while I was pregnant with our daughter. I suffered from depression and anxiety for some time and decided I needed an outlet. I began crocheting which progressed into knitting, dyeing; spinning, weaving, felting…you get the idea! I loved the colors of hand dyed yarn, the different fibers and the science behind making them – thus my passion and business were born.

2013: Claymonster Pottery

Claymonster Pottery

After working with clay for 28 years, I now make whimsical one of a kind hand thrown pottery with personality. Having worked with yarn since I was 8 I've recently been looking for ways to incorporate the two loves into some unique, fun and useful yarn oriented pottery. This has resulted items like our Yarn Monster Bowls, Jar Guys designed specifically to hold needles, and soon to come are Monster buttons and shawl pins.

2013: Cephalopod Yarns

Cephalopod Yarns

We create hand-dyed, luxury yarns and fibers with a uniquely quirky, geeky bent. Using ethically- sourced materials and our own imaginations, we love making the materials that other fiber artists use in their own work. We work mostly in merino wool, baby camel down, silk, cashmere and alpaca, but we're always exploring new avenues!

2013: Cavey Family Sheep & Wool, Co.

Cavey Family Sheep & Wool, Co.

My husband and I have raised and shown Montadale Sheep (an American breed)for 32 years. I sell worsted weight yarn from our sheep that is spun by Green Mountain Spinnery and dyed by me. The yarn has a beautiful feel, perfect for knitters and crocheters. We offer a great variety of vibrant colors. In addition, this year we are offering our yarn in a natural grey all wool that is quite lovely. All fleeces are skirted and had picked by me before processing; thus minimizing pilling.

I make fun, funky, fabulous batts and rolags for spinners and felters. I dye my own fiber and love blending lots of different ingredients into my work for texture and interest. My favorite part of my job is stash diving for the mix of goodies I'm going to card up.
