Preview 2020 Virtual Homespun Yarn Party

Join us on March 22, 2020 from Noon to 5 PM for a Virtual Yarn Party!

  • The Homespun Yarn Party Facebook Group will be our home base, but we'll also be partying on Instagram, Twitter, and Ravelry.
  • Our vendors will be online with us to answer questions, show off their wares (and some cute baby animals!), and help out with virtual yarn squishing.
  • Discounts and special offers will be announced at the start of the party.
  • We'll have a KAL/CAL for the 500 Hats Project (this year's charity collection). You can get started now and mail or drop your hats off at Lovelyarns at any time.
  • Prizes will be drawn throughout the day - make a purchase from any of our vendors during the show for an automatic entry. You can also enter by sharing a photo of your charity hats (finished or in-progress) once we start the K/CAL.
  • Spinning teacher Lauren is hosting a virtual Spin-In after party (5-8 pm) via Zoom

Our selection committee, who have the difficult job of narrowing down the applicants to fit our space.

Everyone who brought FOs for the 500 Hats Project and yarn for Knitters & Crocheters Care, and everyone who stopped by the charity tables to work a few rows on our scarves and hats.

And everyone who came to shop and socialize and learn and be awesome together!

Please share your photos on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Ravelry with #homespunyarnparty

We have one lost and found item returned to us (a heart earring left at a vendor booth) - if this is yours please get in touch with us and we'll pop it in the mail.

We also had a size 3 16" circular needle left at one of the social tables. If you happened to pick this up accidentally please let us know and we'll arrange to get it back to its owner.

Become a Sponsor

Would you like to get your local yarn store or other crafty business in front of the more than 700 avid crafters who attend the Homespun Yarn Party? Read on!

We are entirely volunteer-coordinated and proud to support independent artists and local yarn shops.

To help pay for postcards to spread the word and for our party space, we are offering two sponsorship levels:
  • For $40, your name and location/website will be listed in our program, and linked on our blog for a year. We will also make a separate blog post featuring your business (we will send you a questionnaire and you may include your logo or a photo of your products in the blog post).
  • For $100, in addition to the link and profile post, you will be able to submit up to four blog posts throughout the year, announcing sales, special offers, or events.

All sponsors will be announced and thanked during the event, and listed on our sponsor board, which will be prominently displayed at the entrance. Plus, HYP sponsors and vendors are able and encouraged to post in our Facebook and Ravelry groups.

We are also happy to receive donations of supplies for our on-site learn to knit, crochet, or spin classes, or tokens of appreciation for our volunteers. These material donations will be acknowledged to class participants and listed in the event program. In addition, if you would like to donate a door prize for the event, please let us know what you have to offer!

Email yarnparty@gmail.com for more information. Payment must be received no later than March 11.

Fibre Space exterior4. What kinds of things do you carry?
We offer a wide selection of yarns, needles and notions as well as spinning fibre and supplies. We specialize in indie and US made companies (Brooklyn Tweed, Stonehedge Fiber Mill and Imperial Stock Ranch, for example) and are most known for our amazing selection of hand dyed yarns. Here are a few: Neighborhood Fiber Co., Dragonfly Fibers, Sweet Georgia, Miss Babs, Skein and Lorna's Laces.

5. How long have you been in business, and what inspired you to open your business?
My teaching business, Knit-a-Gogo, Inc was started in 2006. The retail shop grew out of that business (after a lot of begging and pleading by my students!). We opened our doors in July 2009.

6. What's your favorite thing about having your business?
I love being inspired by my customer’s creativity. Every day, someone points out a new great pattern that they found or puts together two colors that I would never have thought of putting together. I really have the greatest job in the world.
