Plied Yarns is a joint undertaking of Karida Collins (Neighborhood Fiber Co.) and Ann Weaver (weaverknits), launched in fall 2019. Our yarns are woolen-spun at Harrisville Designs and hand-dyed in Baltimore. We use a unique dyeing and production process that distinguishes our yarn from all other yarns, both commercially dyed and hand-dyed. Our yarns are inspired by and reflect the history, traditions, and everyday adventures of life in Baltimore.

How long have you been in business, and what inspired you to start your business?
We launched Plied in late fall 2019. It's a collaboration between Ann Weaver, a knitwear designer and teacher, and Karida Collins, founder and president of Neighborhood Fiber Co. We toured the Harrisville Designs mill in New Hampshire and were inspired to partner with them to create a yarn unlike anything on the market. The result is a woolen-spun, hand-dyed, marled yarn that Harrisville spins and plies and we hand-dye in Baltimore.
What's your favorite thing about being yarnies?
We love that our yarn is both a finished product and a raw material—we are inspired by what others create with our product!
