HYP Coronavirus Statement - We're Still On!

As we are all aware, the COVID-19 Coronavirus has become a global topic of concern. While we are keeping a watchful eye on any recommendations for the region, at this stage there are no plans to cancel or postpone this year's Homespun Yarn Party.

To our knowledge, there are very few cases of COVID-19 in most of the region from which we draw shoppers and vendors (MD, DC, VA, WV, PA, NJ). Although five cases have been confirmed in Maryland, the MD Department of Health still classifies overall risk in Maryland as low and officials are encouraging anyone who is not sick or or at elevated risk to go about their normal business with sensible precautions as for cold and flu.

The safety of all of our participants is a primary concern for the Homespun Yarn Party committee. We urge everyone to take note of the recommended precautions from the CDC, and to stay home if you are unwell or if you have recently been in an outbreak area or in contact with people who have been diagnosed with COVID-19. There are restrooms right outside the room for hand-washing and the venue is installing hand sanitizer stations this week.

We look forward to seeing you all on Sunday, March 22, for a great event. If the situation changes in the upcoming days and weeks we'll provide an update on our blog and social media. In the meantime, wash your hands like you've just eaten a bushel of crabs and are about to knit/crochet/spin snow white qiviut!

Based on the Maryland Gov. banning groups of 250 people,
where does the event stand now?
